Southend United prove wireless technology for ticketing

Southend United Football Club ticket office, save £7,000 by using wireless network technology.

Southend United's new owners are making good use of new technology. Their problem was how to link their shop and ticket office, 200 meters apart, across a car park.

The cost of fibre cable installed underground would have been in excess of £10,000 and several match days would have been disrupted. Instead they opted for a wireless LAN solution, costing less than 25% of this amount.

The retail shop and the ticket office, both make use of the Seatbooker Managed Service, delivered over the Internet. Now, they sell tickets from both locations, improving customer service and lowering costs.

Geoffrey King, the clubs Vice Chairman said, "Seatbooker have worked with us to help address business issues. As a result of their IT expertise, we have lowered our costs significantly and our service to customers is better than ever."

Seatbooker said, "What we do to ensure Southend can sell tickets online, is use the best of a range of technologies. These include our ASP ticketing service, high-speed Internet connections and in this case, wireless LAN technology. This means our customers get the best systems, at the most cost effective rates".
